PROJECT 3- Openings

OPENINGS- OPERABLE WALL PANELS.

One of the key elements of the workshop space and its functionality is the use of operable walls.

These timber panels rotate around a central pivot point and allow large portions of the wall to be opened. This allows the space to overflow out into its surroundings and make for a more flexible and diverse learning space.

The wall panels also allow light and ventilation into the space and have the capability to close completely, to blackout the space or secure it.

The wall panels consist of a number of timber slats within a larger timber frame. These slats also rotate and can be adjusted as required. This allows portions of the wall to be permeable, while still providing a solid physical barrier and an opening that cannot be used to access the space.
