Task two required each student to produce a plan and section of each of the models created for task 1. The drawings were to pay particular attention to the materials and the spatial qualities that they create within the structure.
I found this task to be very helpful in representing the intended spatial qualities of each model. the drawings produced were done at a scale of 1:20 on an A3 page and effectively illustrate various qualities of each model, such as the manipulation of light and the nature of the materials used.
All the drawings are shown below:
1:20 FLOOR PLAN OF TIMBER MODEL |
1:20 SECTION OF TIMBER MODEL |
1:20 FLOOR PLAN OF WIRE FRAME MODEL |
1:20 SECTION OF WIRE FRAME MODEL |
1:20 FLOOR PLAN OF TIMBER MODEL |
1:20 SECTION OF TIMBER MODEL |
The two drawings above were representations of the timber model. However, the lack of colour in the drawings leaves them open to interpretation in regards to what the material is. The qualities of the materials could be perceived as any solid material. The manipulation of light within the structure is consistent with the model and the spatial qualities of the space can be seen.
Overall, i feel that the task was very helpful and provided vital information in regards to how the materials of a space can shape and affect the spatial qualities. The task demonstrated how integral drawings can be to understanding these spatial qualities and how they can be effectively represented.
