Holon Design museum

HOLON DESIGN MUSEUM

Designed by Ron Alad Architects, the Holon Design Museum is a enormous piece of sculpture.

Constructed from curved metal rings, the building bends and wraps around itself to form an enclosed space and multiple interesting and unique outdoor spaces. The curvature and openness of the structure manipulates light and creates unique shadows within there outdoor courtyard spaces.

The bands that wrap around the building can be seen from anywhere in the structure and this helps users to orientate themselves within the museum.

Images of the building are shown below.

The outdoor spaces above are unique and interesting. The structure cleverly manipulates sunlight to create semi shaded spaces and casts interesting shadows onto the ground. The open nature of the structure allows ventilation into the space and prevents the spaces from feeling enclosed.

Construction of the metal bands is shown above. This highlights the sculptural nature of the structure and the potential that metal has to form such flowing and organic shapes.
